Two-thirds of the octopus' neurons are located in their arms, not their heads. While an octopus sticks its head into a cave and sees what's going on there, any of its arms can study how to get a crustacean out of its shell. However, the octopus continues to respond even if its arms are separated from the body. In one of the experiments on this subject, the octopus arm, which was severed from the body, was shaken with pain when the scientists pinched it.
