This fossil specimen on display at the Field Museum in Chicago belongs to a species called Pohlsepia. Interestingly, this fossil is very similar to the octopus we see in the oceans today. In other words, while life on land could not go beyond plants and pre-dinosaur reptiles, octopuses in the depths of the oceans had evolved enough for millions of years.
